In the renowned publication known as the “Guinness Book of World Records,” countless individuals have been immortalized for their extraordinary achievements that surpass our imaginations. Among these remarkable individuals, Adriana Iliescu has claimed her rightful place in the prestigious book, although the reasons behind her inclusion may seem baffling. Nonetheless, life sometimes presents us with pivotal moments where we are faced with decisions that have the power to transform our entire existence. Regardless of the path we choose, there will always be choices that may disappoint us. Adriana, hailing from Romania, has taken this concept to another level entirely, sparking public criticism towards the church.
Adriana’s love for writing for young audiences naturally sparked a desire to have her own child. However, at the age of 24, she made the tough decision to undergo an abortion as neither she nor her then-husband felt ready for parenthood. This choice eventually led to their separation. Adriana, a talented woman, decided to channel her energy into her career instead. She dedicated herself to her work as a professor at a local institution after completing her PhD. The thought of becoming a mother was postponed until she reached the age of 37, but unfortunately, the option of I.V.F was not available to her at the time.
Fast forward over three decades, and a determined Adriana finally got her chance. At the age of 66, she decided to pursue I.V.F in an attempt to fulfill her dream of having a child. Against all odds, Adriana conceived triplets, with two growing inside her womb. However, the journey was not without complications. The final triplet, Eliza Iliescu, was born prematurely in 2005 but managed to survive, becoming the shining star in Adriana’s life.
Not everyone shares the same enthusiasm as Adrana Ilescu when it comes to her recent milestone. Some individuals argue that it is selfish for a woman to become a mother at a later stage in life. In 2005, Adrana welcomed her daughter Elza into the world, which attracted international attention and filled her with immense happiness. Adrana, who was once the center of attention due to her daughter’s groundbreaking ideas, has now set a new record as the oldest mother at the age of 66. Given the extraordinary circumstances surrounding her first childbirth, it is understandable why this achievement has captivated people’s interest. Elza’s birth made it possible for Adrana to be recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records.
In 2010, Adriana candidly shared her experiences of motherhood and how it had taken a toll on her. Unfortunately, some people labeled her as selfish and too old for becoming a mother at her age. However, in an interview with Daily Mail, Adriana revealed, “While the challenges of motherhood can be overwhelming, fear has no power over women. Despite feeling exhausted at times, I still embrace the energy and vitality of a young woman. When fatigue sets in, I may feel a bit older, like 37, but I am actually healthier than women half my age. It may amuse others to call me ‘grandma,’ but I don’t rely on external factors to make me feel younger. I have never been conscious of my age. At 83 years old, I have no plans of having more children, but I maintain a beautiful relationship with my teenage daughter, Eliza.”
